Orientation & Check-In:
Upon acceptance of membership, you will be briefed on building access, and permitted facility uses. Following your first member visit, you will just check in at the front desk to access permitted shop areas. Your ID will be required and held during your visit until checkout.
Explorer members are NOT issued key cards for 24/7 access, and need to check in at the front desk each visit. Makerspace access will be provided during staffed hours, generally Mon-Fri 8a-7p, and 10a-4p Saturday, subject to change such as for holidays, or other posted closures. To ensure you always know of any staffing changes, please be sure to provide us an up to date email address, and read communications from us. We recommend you call ahead to verify availability if you choose not to read our messages.
Members who have used tool stations must report to the front desk for check out no later than 30 min before closure. If you are just using common production or assembly areas or software stations, you can check out any time before closure.
Remaining at the facility during unstaffed hours without the express written permission from management will be grounds for membership termination, without refund for any pro-rata for the remaining time of the month. Members may upgrade to Full Membership for 24/7 access to the shop if they require shop access outside staffed hours.
Guest Policy: While guests and visitors are allowed for Full members, additional people are NOT allowed to join part-time users, except during private conference room or classroom event rental times.
Tool Station Access: Explorer members may use any tool station for which they have been cleared by orientation or private instruction. Any tool use fees or on-site supply shop purchases must be paid at time of service (see front desk for full list of tool station hourly rates). Please call ahead to verify or reserve any single-user stations such as laser, CNC, or 3D printers.
Member Code of Conduct: Explorer members are expected to act in accordance with our ethics and code and conduct outlined for regular members and to refrain from any behavior that is disrespectful or substantively disruptive to fellow members, visitors, or to the space.
While networking is encouraged, Members and guests agree not to engage in aggressive solicitation to other members or guests, such as for the sale of goods or services.
Members and guests agree not to utilize the Idea Foundry spaces or internet connection to conduct any illegal activity.
Membership may be suspended or revoked at the sole discretion of management if a member poses a threat to the health, safety, or property of our community, or code of conduct violations.
Personal security: Please secure all valuables. PT drop-in membership does not include amenities such as dedicated desks with locking cabinets, or locking storage options, though storage can be rented at an additional charge. Personal property is not to be left on-site overnight unless through rented storage options.
We are not responsible for loss, theft, or damage of any personal property left on-site or in vehicles in parking lots or street parking.
